Interview with Blogger Swati Sarangi
Can you please introduce yourself to our audience?
I am Swati Sarangi. I hail from Bhubaneswar, Odisha. I’ve a Master’s Degree in Power Electronics and Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.
I’ve experience working in IT, research, and academia for 4 years. I’m obsessed about words, numbers and colors.
How would you describe yourself in three words?
Three words to describe would be: creative, optimistic, and passionate.
How long have you been blogging for and how did ‘ creative – constellation’ start?
- I’ve been blogging regularly on my personal blog on Blogspot– creative-constellation for 11+ years and written around 550 blog posts.
- I’ve some other blogs like – Words-to-world on WordPress, dedicated to short forms of writing like flash fiction and Haiku.
- For technical stuff, I blog at Hashnode; Coding Concoction.
- I’ve recently started writing on Medium; swatistarwrites
I’ve always been so passionate about reading and writing since my school days when I used to participate in various literary contests and won prizes.
Many of my poems and stories were published in school magazines. I didn’t want to lose this habit of writing and publishing, that’s how this blog came into existence (purely out of my desire to publish my pieces of writing).
You can read more about the story of the evolution of Creative-Constellation from this post.
What was your key motivation for starting a blog?
The key motivation for starting a blog is to make my work reach potential readers and receive feedback. This blog will serve as a storehouse of all my write-ups at one place!
In the future where do you hope your blog will take you?
I perceive my blog as a digital diary that has been a companion for me in different frames of time and space. I enjoy writing and connecting with different writers all around the world. I wish to receive opportunities to collaborate with eminent writers of the world and publish a book of my own someday in the future. This blog is a testament to my writing journey and will always remind me about how far I’ve come!
A lot of people think that blogging is an easy way to make money online. Do you have some tips for those people who are interested in making money from the blog?
My blog is not monetized. I write solely for my passion. I’ve been able to earn some paid writing assignments (or won paid writing contests)through my blog being used as a portfolio.
Medium is a better platform to monetize the writing skill, I guess. I’ve just started writing on Medium.
What are the TOP THREE blogging tips you will share with our readers?
– Write for your passion first, rather than aiming for the financial return of it.
– Be very consistent in your writing without worrying about factors like content, style, tone etc.
– Keep distractions away from your surroundings when you sit to write.
