An AI startup, Kombai raises $4.5M from Stellaris Venture Partners and Foundation Capital

India’s AI startup, Kombai raises $4.5M to simplify UI coding with AI.

Kombai, an AI startup that helps developers convert UI designs into code, has raised USD 4.5 million in seed funding. The round was led by Stellaris Venture Partners and Foundation Capital, with participation from angel investors, including CTOs and executives from SaaS firms.

Kombai will use the funding to continue investing in research and development, with a focus on improving its base models, building compatibility with a wider range of libraries and frameworks, and enhancing the developer experience.

The startup was founded in April 2022 by Dipanjan Dey and Abhijit Bhole. It is headquartered in Palo Alto, California, but its core operations are based in Pune, India.

Dipanjan Dey said there is a growing importance of user experiences for businesses but developers spend considerable time in developing the UI designs which is often viewed as monotonous and counterproductive.

“Kombai enables developers to spend less time on these mundane tasks, freeing up more time to focus on coding the business logic that’s critical for modern applications,” Dey said.

Kombai plans to utilize some of its funding to start inbound and to continue investing in research and development, improve its base models and build compatibility with a range of libraries and frameworks used by developer teams.

The company, Kombai, is currently in a public research preview, and the company is actively seeking feedback from the developer community.

Over the past six months, Pune-based Kombai claims to have engaged with more than 500 developers as part of its private research preview.
