Can you tell our readers about yourself and your blogs?

I write two blogs, Cindy Goes Beyond and Journey With Healthy Me. Beyond is a lifestyle blog that focuses on helping people live extraordinary lives, free from fear, limiting beliefs and doubt. It encourages others to move beyond their comfort zones and try new experiences. Beyond also features posts about travel, gardening, the inner journey and reviews of movies, books and products. My motto for Cindy Goes Beyond is Living Life Beyond the Edges.

Journey With Healthy Me chronicles my healing journey that began three years ago. It features info and tips about the plant based lifestyle, recipes, helpful herbs and supplements and stories about living at the highest level of health. My motto for Journey With Healthy Me is Healthy at Every Age.

Describe how did you first get into blogging?

I started my first blog, Cindy Goes Beyond, in 2014. My intention with the blog was to document a year of trying new experiences every day… a year of firsts. My desire was to move beyond fears, limitations and my comfort zone. I wrote daily in that blog for five years! This year I am posting 2 – 3 times a week in Beyond and 2 times a week in my health blog, Journey With Healthy Me.

I discovered that blogging daily and trying new things expanded my awareness. New opportunities and adventures began showing up. Writing and following my curiosity and saying yes to opportunities has changed my life.

How do you motivate yourself to keep the blog up and running?

I’m motivated by my love of writing and by helping people and making a difference in their lives. I’m further motivated now as I shift to blogging full time and creating income through my writing.

What do you think is the best strategy that worked well for you to get more traffic to your blog?

My best strategies include writing great content and increasing engagement on social media. I add each blog post to my social media sites and participate in engagement threads. Pinterest and Google are my two best sources of traffic. So SEO (Search Engine Optimization) is so important too, to rank well with Google. I use the YOAST plugin on my blog, which is great for optimizing my post for SEO. YOAST also helps me to be a better writer by checking for things like passive voice.

In the future where do you hope your blog will take you?

My intention, with the two blogs, is to blog full time and be able to create a flow of income. I am currently making money with them through sponsored posts with brands and affiliate marketing through companies like Amazon. I’m also working on digital products for both blogs. My big WHY is to create a business lifestyle that allows me to travel and work remotely from anywhere in the world and also to spend time doing fun things with my family.

Would you encourage other people to make their blog?

If you have a story to tell or interesting experiences to share or solutions to common problems, then a blog is definitely something to consider! There is very little initial cost to setting up a blog.

What are the TOP THREE blogging tips you will share with our readers?

1. Decide what you want to share and who your audience is. Pick a niche, such as lifestyle, health & wellness, fashion, reviews, technology, etc. and then check out other blogs in that niche. It is important to know who you are writing your posts for. Make sure that you are reaching that audience.

2. Be consistent in creating great content and posting frequently. Use Grammarly or other editing apps to improve grammar and usage. Post at least once a week. Less than that and your readers will forget about you. Develop your own unique writing style and way of sharing your voice. Include large, clear, colorful photos in your posts to help break up text. Use subheadings too, to improve SEO and break up the page as well.

3. Share your blog posts EVERYWHERE. Post on all social media sites. Create a Facebook Page for your blog and also share your posts on your personal page. Join blogging groups on Facebook and Instagram to increase engagement and connect with other bloggers. Read and comment on other blogs and those bloggers will begin to do the same for you.

  • Wow! I am always curious about people with multiple blogs, so this was nice. What I want to know is how they manage their time. We run a blog, a podcast, and a YouTube channel, but the benefit of doing multiple platforms is that we re-purpose most content, so that managing it all is not as difficult as it sounds. I doubt if I would say the same about managing more than one blog… Thanks for sharing a little about Cindy.
