Hello bloggers, Are you looking for some tips to use Twitter to drive traffic to your blog? I know, your answer is YES! That’s why you landed on this post. I am going to share some important tactics to use Twitter to drive traffic to your blog. Some of these tips worked well for me. Twitter is one of the best social media I use to drive traffic to my blog.

I use Quora, Facebook, and Twitter to drive traffic to my blog. I already have written a post on How to use Quora to drive traffic to your blog. One thing I want to share with you as a blogger, honestly, I write a blogging tips post on any topic on the basis of my blogging experience.

First I experiment with the things on my blog, observe the results, and then I share those working tips with you all.

I have been actively using Twitter for one year ( in between I have taken a break because of certain things ). These are the tips I am sharing with you on the basis of how I use Twitter to drive traffic to my blog.

Maybe you are already using these tips or you may have some other tactics to drive traffic to your blog. You can leave a comment below this post if you have some other tactics working for you!

How to Use Twitter to Drive Traffic to Your Blog

1. Include a Blog Link in Your Bio

Your bio on Twitter plays an important role to increase your followers. If you don’t have enough or appropriate information specified in your Twitter bio then on which basis people will follow you?

Personally I check the bio first and then follow people.

So, If you specify your blog link in your bio, your followers, or the people who want to follow you can check ( read ) your blog first. The blog link specified in your bio is part of your social identity. Feel proud to mention your blog link in your Twitter. It is one of the best ways to drive traffic to your blog.

How can you add a website link in your bio?

Twitter gives you an option to add your website.

Go to your profile, click on the Edit Profile button and you will see a form opened in a popup that will have input fields Name, Bio, Location, Website, Birthdate, etc.

You can add a website link in the Bio field also, But don’t forget to add in the Website field too, that’s why that field is there.

You can mention your blog link or specific blog post link or even any other page like the contact page of your blog.

2. Keep Your Tweets Short

A tweet already has a character limit to keep it pretty short. Tweets under 100 characters with your blog link can drive traffic to your blog.

You don’t need to write or type your blog title when you share the blog link or blog post link in a tweet.

You can just type CTA ( Call To Action ) text in a tweet like – “Go and get this SEO tips ebook FREE” and link.

Do not explain or write more about your post in a tweet. Just add short and simple text so that people can click to your link and go to your website or blog.

You can experiment with it on your own for yourself. Take a blog post you wrote, and write out five variations of tweets that’s 10 words or less. Tweet them to see what works best.

3. Ask for Retweets ( or RT )

Asking for Retweets from your followers will actually increase your engagement with your tweets and your tweet will reach more people on Twitter.

Compose a short and sweet tweet including your blog link and ask for a Retweet.

When you are asking for retweets from your followers or readers on Twitter then you must think that your tweet should be valuable or helpful for the people there on Twitter. Means the blog post link you are mentioning or adding in a tweet should have value or should solve the problem of your readers. If you use this strategy or tip then this will help you to drive the traffic to your blog.

I personally used this tip and it worked for me. That’s how I use Twitter to drive traffic to your blog.

4. Pin Your Latest Blog Post to the Top of Your Twitter Timeline

This is the most important tip to drive the traffic to your blog using Twitter. Pinned Tweet is the first tweet ( on top of your Twitter timeline ) the people see when they visit your profile on Twitter.

You can write some info about what this tweet is about or what the link is about in this tweet and add that link there in that tweet.

How to pin your Tweet:

1. Go to your Profile Page
2. For your every Tweet there is down arrow at the left side, click on that.

Click on down arrow at right top of your tweet to see Pin to your profile option
Click on down arrow at right top of your tweet to see Pin to your profile option

3. You will see options like – Delete, Pin to your profile, Embed Tweet, View Tweet activity
4. Click on Pin to your profile

Click on Pin to your profile to pin your tweet.
Click on Pin to your profile to pin your tweet.

And That’s it! Your tweet is pinned on top of your profile.

Benefits of the Pinned Tweet:

You can ask anyone just to check your pinned tweet when you don’t have the blog post link with you. If you are a member of some blogger communities ( Facebook groups or Twitter Chat groups ) there might be restrictions to send the link in a group. In this case you just ask someone to check your pinned tweet.

If you find someone struggling with some blog or he/she is asking for some tips and you have already had that blog post link in a pinned tweet then you can redirect people to check your pinned tweet. This will give you double benefit, first the engagement with your tweet and the traffic to your blog.

So, Always pin your latest blog post to the top of your timeline, that’s how you can use Twitter to drive traffic to your blog.

5. Mention People You Include in the Blog Post

If you have written a blog post on your blog and in that blog post you have written about someone ( who is on Twitter too ), then while sharing the blog post on Twitter mention that person or profile. There are high chances that people will retweet where they have mentions.

This is not a tip, but MUST do things when you are writing about or mentioning someone in your blog post then you should mention them on Twitter too when you are sharing the link in a tweet.

How or when to include/refer someone in a blog post?

1. Interview – You can have Interview series on your blog and share that interview post on Twitter mentioning the interviewee.

2. Refer their work in a blog post – You can refer other’s work in your blog post. For example – If you are writing a blog post about Blogging Tips then you can refer to one of the most important tips by someone in your blog and when you share that blog post to Twitter, don’t forget to mention them. ( Note: Better you take the permission of the people whose work you are referring to in your blog post ).

3. Thank or appreciate someone in a blog post if he/she has helped you anyway. Make sure that this thanks note for appreciation is related to your post topic. This is a simple tactic and everyone can use it.

I use this tactic too often as I write about Blogging Tips, Influencers on Instagram, Startup Stories, Motivational real stories, etc. So I always have someone referred to in my blog post.

For your reference, these are my posts where I have given reference of other bloggers –

1. Important Blogging Tips by Amit Agarwal
2. Top Technology Bloggers in India
3. Meet Rebecca Lake and get some Blogging Tips

So, Always mention the people or profiles if they or their work is referred to in your blog post. This is one of the most important tips to use Twitter to drive traffic to your blog.

As per my experience, 10 out of 8 Tweets get retweeted when I have mentioned someone in my tweet.

6. Retweet or Thank Anyone Who Mentions Your Blog

If you found someone who shared your blog posts and tagged you in that tweet. Say thank you in reply to that tweet and retweet it. Don’t forget to thank people and retweet the tweet in which you are mentioned. You can simply reply to that tweet and retweet. Indirectly you are increasing the traffic to your blog using this tip.

There are high chances that if your blog post is helpful and you have added social share buttons to your blog posts, people will share it without mentioning you!

IMPORTANT –

There might be a possibility that people are directly sharing your posts without mentioning you. That’s OK. Then what you can do is – search for your blog posts on twitter. You can use the search box of Twitter. Search can be done by typing the link of your blog or blog post. That is the easy way to search which I always use. What’s Next? Next is just say thank you in reply to that tweet and retweet.

So Thanking and retweeting the tweets which have your profile ( or blog post ) mentioned, is one of the best ways to drive the traffic to your blog.
